Denmark's Digital Orthophoto

COWI India produces a nationwide orthophoto of Denmark based on aerial photography taken by COWI A/S. The orthophoto, called Denmark's Digital Orthophoto, is produced every second year for rural and urban areas respectively.

Since 2003, Kampsax India has produced part of Denmark's Digital Orthophoto (DDO) that covers all Denmark, based on aerial photography carried out by COWI A/S.

Constantly improved quality

During the years, the quality and the degree of detail of DDO have been improved substantially. The two latest editions of the nationwide orthophoto were produced with a pixel size of 25 x 25 cm, allowing you to see and identify objects smaller than one metre.

Production process

COWI India was responsible for the aerial triangulation, production of a digital terrain model as well as for the orthophoto production.

Various applications due to high accuracy and level of detail

As the level of detail is very high, especially for the urban edition, the orthophoto is very useful as map basis for town planning. However, the orthophotos also find their application in:

  • Internet presentations
  • 3D visualizations
  • Presentation material
  • Planning and projecting
  • Land use analysis
  • Surveying of distances and areas

Especially local authorities, utility companies, surveyors, estate agents and insurance companies in Denmark use the DDO widely.
