COWI expands Engineering Services in India

Four new Department Heads for Core Engineering Services in COWI India

As part of the strategic movement in India, COWI  has in the last six months expanded the Engineering capacity in and for India fourfold. Apart from the already successfully operating Department for Marine Structures, Hydraulics, and Coastal Engineering, three new Departments for Roads & Rail, Bridges & Tunnels, and Buildings have been established. It is expected that the new Engineering Departments will support considerably the global activities of COWI, and brand the Group in the fast growing Indian Market as an important player.

The new representatives of the Engineering Division in Gurgaon and Chennai are:

Bradley Allen Syler, Head of Department “Marine” , COWI Office Gurgaon.
Bradley Syler joined COW India after having been COWI’s representative in Abu Dhabi since 2009.He is a seasoned Marine Engineer and comes with detailed knowledge about modern marine projects, combined with rich experience of leading challenging projects, especially in the Arabian Gulf. His primary experience and expertise is the management of marine and transportation design projects.

Christer Johansson, Head of Department “Bridges and Tunnels”, COWI Office Gurgaon.
Christer Johansson joined COWI in 2000 already as experienced Project Engineer. Since then he worked as designer and project leader in numerous tunnel and bridge projects in Europe, Asia, South-America. He holds a Master Degree from the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden and is specialized in structural design of tunnels and bridges.

Bent Alsted, Head of Department “Roads and Rail”, COWI Office Gurgaon.
Bent Alsted is with COWI since 2006.  He has more than twenty years experience in all type of infrastructure related transportation projects, from the perspective of private contractors and consultants, as well as from the one as representative of public authorities. His specialization is the coordination of multidisciplinary projects in the sector.

Nicolai Opolzer, Head of Department “Buildings”, COWI Office Chennai.
Nicolai Opolzer has been with COWI since 2006, and before joining COWI India he was Discipline Leader of the Structural Department on COWI’s largest Airport projects ever in Muscat and Salalah, Oman. He holds a Degree from Aarhus Engineering College with Specialization in Structural Engineering.
